Event & Tech Exhibition

Circle of Sound

Exploring Tech

In December of 2019, Hyper Island had an exhibition where visitors got to bring out their curiosities and inner child with 17 installations designed by 100 students. The brief was to combine meaningful play and narrative with new technologies and their boundaries. My team wanted to create a way to play with sound in a new or non-traditional method.

Touch-sensoring system

Our contribution was called Circle of Sound - a harmonic space where water movement gave sound responses. We created this by combining Arduino, a touch-sensing system called Touché, and coded the music with different responses. This together made it possible for the visitors to produce their own music with a finger touching the water, hand grabbing the bowl.
